An Unparalleled Bridge Structure
The Cambridge bridge is a Warren Truss girder bridge that is formed by a top chord with a polygonal (camelback) shaped geometry. This truss eliminates verticals at the top chord panel points. It is an efficient use of steel and one that is a classic choice for rural or industrial settings.
In 2014 U.S. Bridge provided the city of Temecula, CA, a Cambridge structure. Our bridge replaced the old bridge that was deteriorated and classified Functionally Obsolete (FO) by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). One of the criteria in selecting the Cambridge style and finish was that it had to be aesthetically in keeping with the feel of Old Town Temecula. The Cambridge style meets these requirements in addition to its durability and functionality.
Durable and Efficient
Steel is one of the most durable materials available. It can withstand major environmental disasters, such as massive earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes. Further, steel affords unparalleled strength, making it ideal for spanning longer distances. And of course, steel is long-lasting, making it a great choice for projects that need to last the ages. Like all U.S. Bridge structures, the Cambridge style offers durability and efficiency. Helping connect communities or contributing to the completion of other bridge projects, this bridge is ideal for both country or city locales.
The truss design is a welded or bolted Warren Truss configured in the Cambridge style as manufactured by U.S. Bridge. The trusses each have a polygonal top chord, two diagonal members in each truss panel, and a vertical member at each interior bottom chord panel point. The bottom (tension) chord of each truss consists of two equal-sized members with adequate section properties to provide redundancy.
